Paying a fine and pleading guilty to a traffic ticket can have many more consequences than a hefty fine amount. Most traffic tickets have demerit points and as little as one conviction can increase your insurance rates.

An Innisfil man accused of speeding erratically along Yonge Street on Sunday afternoon is facing impaired and stunt driving charges.
South Simcoe Police say an officer spotted the driver travelling nearly 60km/h over the speed limit near the 4th Line. His vehicle was stopped by the 7th Line, east of Yonge Street.
The officer claims the driver was clearly impaired, and he was taken to the police station for testing where it’s alleged he blew more than twice the legal limit.
Police say the fully loaded truck was travelling more than 50km/h over the posted speed limit past Herb Campbell Public School on Wednesday afternoon.
“This type of driving is a tragedy waiting to happen,” stated the OPP in a Tweet.
The 57-year-old driver’s license was suspended and the dump truck was towed away.
The first arrest came just before lunchtime on Sunday, when police pulled over a vehicle clocked at twice the posted limit. Officers say the vehicle was traveling at a speed of 119 kilometres an hour in a 60 zone along the 11th Line of Bradford. A 33-year-old Alliston man not only faces a charge of Stunt Driving, police add he had no insurance card with him.
Around 3:30 Sunday afternoon, an officer says a vehicle was spied driving erratically and at a high rate of speed, northbound on Yonge St. near the 4th Line of Innisfil. The radar gun showed the vehicle was topped out at 139km/h in an 80 zone. The driver was stopped and arrested after the officer noted the smell of alcohol and obvious signs of impairment. A 39-year-old Innisfil man has been charged with Stunt Driving, Impaired Driving, and Dangerous Driving, among others.
Both drivers saw their licences and vehicles impounded by police.
